Education Day

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, the Kamloops Bee Club held an education day at Joe Lomond's bee yard in the Thompson River Estates near Savona.

The club set up several frame assembly stations. Participants rotated through the stations, getting some hands-on experience with assembling standard and dadant frames, fitting wax and setting wire. Afterwards there was a demonstration of the application of a formic acid mite control, followed by an afternoon examination of Joe's hives.

Our little hive was packed with busy little bee club members from Kamloops and the Cariboo, as well as students from Ian Farber's Introduction to Beekeeping course. That last line was as corny as they come!

Who the hell messpelled "dadant"?!!!
