Honey Count

I am unsure how to quantify the number of hives I kept. I started with one colony and expanded to two. Eventually I had a pair of two-queen colonies: Tower one was a two-queen colony with a queen top and bottom. Tower two was a two-queen colony with a queen top and bottom. Tower one lost their top queen as the honey flow commenced.

Is that two or three hives? Three and one half? Beats me. I don't know how to count.

...but I do know how to use a scale!

The first pull was in mid-July; the second early-August; and the third towards the end of August.

Aside of what remains in the colonies, I set aside an extra eleven deeps of honey and pollen for spring feeding and splits. I swapped out three lighter frames from my weakest colony for three of the heavier frames from my extras because I am a scaredy-cat.

Five-hundred-and-fifty-five pounds of honey. Last year I got zero. What percentage increase is that? Beats me. I don't know how to count.
