Returning Ed's Equipment June 14, 2014

I received a dadant from Ed as part of my rebuilding process after losing my hives the previous winter. My own standard box was placed above his dadant. A queen excluder was placed on top of the dadant after the queen moved up into the standard above it. This allowed the dadant brood to be nurtured by the nurse bees and hatch-out while preventing the queen from laying in the bottom dadant again. A second standard was placed on top to give the hive two standards to live in.

The standards were in good shape and the queen was present. After the inspection the bottom hatched-out dadant was removed, and the dadant box was returned to Ed. The video shows the inspection prior to the removal of the dadant.
